Joys Of Blue

The client, Amanda, wanted users to navigate her photography and art differently than other photography & art portfolio sites. To display her site in the most creative manner available, Amanda encouraged the use of Flash to allow for better quality photography. She also wanted updates to be simple and external to the Flash component.

We brainstormed on her navigation request and determined a uniquely spiraled display of photographs that users can zoom and "scroll" would be a feat unsurpassed within web sites in her field. The end result was a unique, creative approach to navigation that required a good amount of geometric math computations, making the use of Flash well warranted.

To meet her requirement for simple updates, the Flash movie parses an XML file and externally loads her images. The XML file, while hand-edited, was the perfect approach to making the Flash movie itself lean while giving the client control of the display of her work.

Joys of Blue launched and has received numerous compliments from a variety of people within her field, making a lasting impression upon those who have visited the site.
